Pacific Toyota has made a generous donation of the “Savvy Van“ which will allow our team at Centacare FNQ to collect school items for those in need.
Centacare FNQ has delivered low cost school items to the Cairns community and last year we supported over 1000 school children to start the school year with low cost uniforms and equipment.
“This year, more than ever before, School Savvy will play an important role to ensure that local children can start the new school year with the things they need to participate in learning.” Centacare FNQ’s Executive Director, Anita Veivers said. “School Savvy aims to assist local families on low incomes or those who are going through challenging times. We all know that Christmas and the summer months are an expensive time for all families. “ she said.
Centacare FNQ is calling on families and year 12 students to dig out those uniforms that their children have grown out of and drop them off at St Vincent de Paul stores or at Centacare FNQ offices or participating schools.
We appreciate the ongoing support of the Cairns local community which have made this project possible and we encourage local businesses to get on board the Savvy Van by donating a packed pencil case instead of doing Kris Kringle in their office this year.
