Orientation Program

Centacare Multicultural Services provides an orientation program for newly arrived refugees and humanitarian entrants.  The program includes information and practical learning around a range of topics including:

  • Australian Law and Culture
  • Housing and Tenancy
  • Employment
  • Financial Management etc.

Information Sessions

Information sessions are provided to ensure that newly arrived migrants have the information they need to participate in the Australian community. Information sessions may include:

  • Disaster preparedness
  • Fishing and recreation
  • Police and justice
  • Understanding counselling
  • Budgeting skills

Group Work

Centacare Multicultural Services facilitates group work that promotes resilience, life skills and leadership. Trained team members provide:

  • BRITA program (Building Resilience in Trans Cultural Australians)
  • FICT (Families in Cultural Transition) in partnership with QPASTT (Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma)
  • Leadership Training in partnership with ECCQ (Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland).

Multicultural Services is not open at weekends or on public holidays
