The NDIS & You

Centacare FNQ has been supporting the community of Far North Queensland since 1981. We are a registered NDIS provider offering disability services and support. We can guide you through the NDIS process and may be able to provide supports identified within your package. We can partner with you, to help you become NDIS ready and deliver the best outcome for your individual needs.

For Far North Queensland, the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) rolled out on 1st July 2018.

So if you are living with a disability, this is an exciting opportunity to live the life you want, through greater choice and control and a plan that meets your individual needs.

WHAT IS THE NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme or NDIS, as it is also know, is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers.

The NDIS, will support all Australians under the age of 65 who have a permanent and significant disability with the reasonable and necessary supports they need to live an ordinary life - to access supports to help them take part in everyday activities and to achieve their individual goals and aspirations.

By taking a lifetime approach, the NDIS is investing in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life.

CAN ANYONE ACCESS THE SCHEME?

To access the NDIS, you must meet certain age, residency, disability and/or early intervention requirements.
